P&A Seeks Public Comment
Bismarck, ND – The North Dakota Protection & Advocacy Project (P&A) is a federally mandated, independent state agency established to advance and assert the human and legal rights of people with disabilities. P&A provides services to individuals with disabilities statewide. Services include information and referral, self-advocacy assistance, advocacy representation, legal representation, protective services, education and training, systems work, and legislative advocacy.

AT Awareness Day Celebrations
Bismarck, ND – Governor Kelly Armstrong has officially proclaimed April 30, 2025, as Assistive Technology (AT) Awareness Day in North Dakota, aligning with the national observance of Assistive Technology Awareness Day. This proclamation highlights the critical role assistive technology plays in supporting individuals with disabilities, older adults, and others in overcoming barriers and achieving their goals.

Bismarck, ND – Common Ground is a resource for students with disabilities, family members, educators, and related professionals. It is designed to provide digestible explanations of complex federal laws that ensure access to education for students with disabilities. By providing foundational information on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act Common Ground creates a basic understanding of educational rights. Common Ground also explains various processes relative to the education of students with disabilities, builds skills for conflicts resolution, and teaches easy-to-implement advocacy strategies.

P&A Releases Report on Poll Site Accessibility
Bismarck, ND – In the United States, 1 in 6 eligible voters have a disability. Federal law mandates that voters with disabilities have the same opportunity to vote as people without disabilities. This includes ensuring physical accessibility at poll sites. The North Dakota Protection & Advocacy Project (P&A) partnered with the state’s four centers for independent living to examine poll site accessibility leading up to the 2024 election.
