AT Awareness Day Celebrations
Bismarck, ND – Governor Kelly Armstrong has officially proclaimed April 30, 2025, as Assistive Technology (AT) Awareness Day in North Dakota, aligning with the national observance of Assistive Technology Awareness Day. This proclamation highlights the critical role assistive technology plays in supporting individuals with disabilities, older adults, and others in overcoming barriers and achieving their goals.
Assistive technology encompasses a wide range of tools and systems—from communication devices, mobility aids, and hearing supports to smart home innovations and medication management tools. These technologies empower people to perform daily tasks, engage with their communities, and exercise greater control over their lives.
To commemorate this important day, North Dakota Protection & Advocacy (P&A) and ND Assistive, in collaboration with many other community partners, are hosting a multi-city event on April 30 that will spotlight the power and promise of assistive technology across North Dakota. This statewide celebration will include hands-on demonstrations, exhibits, and opportunities to explore assistive technology solutions. At these events, we will honor local AT Champions who have shown outstanding commitment to promoting the use of assistive technology in their communities.
Attendees—including individuals with disabilities, family members, caregivers, service providers, and professionals—will be able to interact directly with a wide variety of assistive devices and learn how they can be used to improve quality of life, promote independence, and reduce reliance on care. Event locations and schedules will be announced soon. For updates and more information, visit https://www.ndpanda.org/ or https://ndassistive.org/.
Let’s spread the word. Everyone deserves the tools they need to thrive. Assistive Technology makes that possible. Come and celebrate assistive technology with us!
